26-6-2009 European Championship officially opened With the presentation of the national teams, the referees, organizers and with the addressing of the mayor Marjan Poljšak to the public, the 5th European Championship in 4-cross has been officially opened.

The opening ceremony was held in the relaxing atmosphere. The speakers have mostly stressed out the hard work, put into the preparation of the championship and expressed wishes to have good weather conditions tomorrow.

The mayor, locally known by his 'interesting' statements has translated the 4-cross championship as 'a group of cyclists, that drop down the hill to die for'. Otherwise, the mayor expressed great satisfaction with the fact, that Ajdovščina is hosting an event of such importance as the European championship is.
