16-6-2011 Offida shows the same enthusiasm The world of cycling returns to the Marche region and the passion returns to Offida, the hospitable town in the province of Ascoli Piceno which last year held a record edition of the Junior World Championships, record for audience, participation and organization.

From 14 to 17 July the Societr Ciclistica Amatori Offida will organise the European cycling championships, junior and under 23, men and women and it already looks like there will again be record participation.

At the moment the European Cycling Union (UEC) is processing the registrations of various countries and a prestigious line-up is expected: - We are in constant contact with the UEC – says Gianni Spaccasassi, president of the organising committee – and teams just keep on registering. I think that there will be about 750 athletes in Offida during the week of the European Championships and they will be welcomed with the same warmth and affection which the town showed to the Junior World Champions in 2010, AND for which the whole region received lots of praise.

This year the event will be even more intense than the Juniors; the European Championships will begin on 13 July with an inauguration ceremony and preliminary events. Then the competition will begin with both morning and afternoon events over the following days. On Thursday 14 and Friday 15 July the time trials will be held, while the European titles for road racing will be awarded on Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 July.

There will be ample television coverage while it will be possible for the whole world to follow the event live on the web.
