2-1-2012 UCI Elite National Commissaires Course in Tallinn By the initiative of the Estonian Cyclists' Union and with the support of the European Cycling Union the 1st UCI Elite National Commissaires' course in English took place in Tallinn on December 1-4.

The UCI appointed instructor was one of the most experienced UCI International Commissaires' - President Commissaire of the Tour de France 2011 and London Olympics 2012 - Philippe Marien from Belgium. He was assisted by his Estonian colleague Madis Lepajõe. The group was international, in addition to 8 representatives of the hosting country there were participants appointed by the National Federations of Finland, Ireland, Poland and Latvia.

- As the small federations do not have enough qualified candidates and also resources to run the course, the initiative of the Estonian Cycling Union to compose an international group of trainees is most welcome - noted Wojciech Walkiewicz, UEC President.

The course consisted of 3 days training and ended with the day of written and oral exams. The results of the exams will be forwarded by UCI to the National Federations of the candidates in January. Finally every successful candidate will receive a UCI certificate, which authorizes him/her to act as a member of the Commissaires' Panel at international races, which take place in his home country.
